Does light behave to the rules of conservation of energy?

Jack Jeebs asked:

If light bounces off of a mirror, shouldn’t there be an equal and opposite reaction to the force, giving the mirror some energy, and the light will lose some velocity…. but then light is always moving at the speed of light so how is it compensated? Will the photon just pull energy out of nowhere and continue at the speed of light?

Can someone please help me with finding vertical height for conservation of energy?

Whiterose7 asked:

A ball is launched with initial speed v from ground level up a frictionless slope. The slope makes an angle theta with the horizontal. Using conservation of energy, find the maximum vertical height, h max, to which the ball will climb. Express your answer in v, g or theta.

Can someone please show me how to do this problem? Thank you!!

with reference to the rotation of the earth how is the law of conservation of energy followed?

nirajshahahmd asked:

consider the rotation of the earth. here no external force acts on it yet it keeps on rotating and has done that for countless years which implies that energy is utilized without supplying it. how is it possible?

Could someone explain the law of conservation of energy please?

Purple Moogle asked:

According to this law, in a closed system the level of energy remains constant. But if you light a fire and it goes out, after the heat has disapated, what energy is left?

I guess there’s some definition of energy that I missed. Please enlighten me.

Thanks.
Additionally, how closed does said system need to be?
