  1. Hydrogen powered autos is the way to go. The sun’s energy can be used to separate Hydrogen from Oxygen, so you definitely have something environmentally friendly.

  2. This is obviously a subject of much debate and hot air (sic), but nobody has any working propositions. A hydrogen based economy would be better than a carbon based one, but producing that hydrogen will require carbon in the cycle too, in some form or the other. The goals that you set out are complementary and will require engineering tradeoffs to find an acceptable production that minimizes environmental damage. Try to model these using equations and explore optimization of the same to get answers.
